Our\u00a0<\/em>Grup Puisi Online<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is made up of people from across the globe who share a love of poetry. Their dream this year is to publish an anthology\u2014for now, the group invites you to enjoy their Featured Poetry of the Month by Mich from the Philippines and Fleuria from Madagascar. <\/em><\/p>\n

We are Called<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the beginning was the Word.<\/p>\n

The earth was formless and void.<\/p>\n

Darkness spread its cloak over the deep,<\/p>\n

Then the Spirit raised His voice.<\/p>\n

And God said\u2014yes, He\u00a0said<\/em>\u2014<\/p>\n

He uttered, He spoke,<\/p>\n

His Word cut through the dark<\/p>\n

and light burst forth.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

God spoke and He kept on speaking.<\/p>\n

God said and God called:<\/p>\n

The day and the night<\/p>\n

and the waters and the light,<\/p>\n

The first and the second<\/p>\n

and the firmament of heaven.<\/p>\n

God said let the waters gather<\/p>\n

together as one<\/p>\n

Under heaven be you gathered,<\/p>\n

be one, be one<\/p>\n

God said the same to His children,<\/p>\n

be you gathered as one<\/p>\n

He called out to creation;<\/p>\n

He is calling us now.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called to fight the monsters<\/p>\n

seen through a mirror darkly<\/p>\n

We are called to face them daily.<\/p>\n

We are called to stare them down.<\/p>\n

We are called to forgive<\/p>\n

again and again and again and again.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t make a sound.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When asked what you believe,<\/p>\n

do you remember what you said?<\/p>\n

There are voices far above<\/p>\n

and deep below our pounding heads.<\/p>\n

We are called by our Creator,<\/p>\n

we are called out by the world<\/p>\n

There are voices trying to wake us,<\/p>\n

they wake us and we drown.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called narrow-minded,<\/p>\n

judgmental, frauds and hypocrites<\/p>\n

Losers with so-called morals<\/p>\n

that shift with political whims.<\/p>\n

Who did you vote for?<\/p>\n

Was it worth it, to come to this?<\/p>\n

We are called self-righteous.<\/p>\n

We are. Let\u2019s admit it.<\/p>\n

We think we\u2019re better.<\/p>\n

Better at our own secret sins.<\/p>\n

We hide inside our well-lit buildings<\/p>\n

and pour out praises while we rebel.<\/p>\n

We are called to be aware.<\/p>\n

Man was in the garden when He fell.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called to do great works,<\/p>\n

but we imagine applause in our heads<\/p>\n

We think the world owes us something<\/p>\n

since we are called to raise their dead.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called. We were chosen.<\/p>\n

A \u201croyal priesthood,\u201d mighty and proud.<\/p>\n

But we are called to do justly.<\/p>\n

Walk humbly. Cast down our crowns.<\/p>\n

We are called to humble ourselves<\/p>\n

again and again and again and again.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

But we don\u2019t make a sound.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

God cries over our cities,<\/p>\n

blood-soaked streets and infinite pain<\/p>\n

He hears gunshots and screams.<\/p>\n

Then there is silence again.<\/p>\n

We are called as watchmen<\/p>\n

yet we close our eyes in shame.<\/p>\n

We are called to beat the darkness<\/p>\n

\u2018til it bursts and bleeds daylight<\/p>\n

Yet we have failed and we have fallen<\/p>\n

from such, such great heights.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called children of the Most High<\/p>\n

but we use His Name in vain<\/p>\n

We have stoned all our prophets,<\/p>\n

leaving silence in their wake.<\/p>\n

Who will speak against injustice?<\/p>\n

Who is left that knows God\u2019s face?<\/p>\n

We are called to love our enemies.<\/p>\n

We are supposed to know their names.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This world aches for love<\/p>\n

and hope is a fragile thing.<\/p>\n

We shout but the Spirit whispers.<\/p>\n

The Spirit sings.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Jesus said to His disciples:<\/p>\n

Be you gathered as one.<\/p>\n

God called out to creation.<\/p>\n

He is calling us now.<\/p>\n

We are called to remember,<\/p>\n

speak out life, let love abound!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We do not make a sound.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called to stand down, soldiers.<\/p>\n

Stand down.<\/p>\n

The King that that you serve<\/p>\n

chose a cross over His crown.<\/p>\n

We have no guns or bullets.<\/p>\n

Our sword is the Word.<\/p>\n

We are called to say:<\/p>\n

good news, good news, great news!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We are called.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t make a sound.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are called to raise our voice.<\/p>\n

The Spirit raised His very own.<\/p>\n

By our love the world shall know us,<\/p>\n

by our love we are made known.<\/p>\n

Jesus said to His disciples:<\/p>\n

Be you gathered as one<\/p>\n

God called out to creation.<\/p>\n

He is still calling us now.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

God said the same to His children,<\/p>\n

be you gathered as one.<\/p>\n

Under heaven be you gathered,<\/p>\n

be one, be one!<\/p>\n

We are called to define and act.<\/p>\n

Love is both noun and verb.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is no truth in silence.<\/p>\n

In the beginning was the Word.<\/p>\n

Closed Door<\/strong><\/p>\n

God, what is this unexpected shift???<\/p>\n

My reality looks different to the prayers I lift<\/p>\n

God, I had an idea of how I thought my life would be<\/p>\n

I admit the turn of events hurt, disappointed me<\/p>\n

God, I had a dream, I had a plan, I had an idea<\/p>\n

A clear idea of how I thought my life would be<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m going through a situation I barely understand<\/p>\n

I felt so discontent, I tried to force God\u2019s hand<\/p>\n

When I realized the door was bolted shut<\/p>\n

I was trying to climb the wall, create a shortcut<\/p>\n

Even right now, I can\u2019t fully grasp the purpose behind it<\/p>\n

But I \u2018m learning to trust, obey, submit<\/p>\n

For I believe this door is closed for my good, for my benefit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As I said before,<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t grasp the reason behind this closed door<\/p>\n

But I trust God has something more in store<\/p>\n

There are many things I can\u2019t comprehend<\/p>\n

I have peace knowing it was closed by a sovereign, a loving hand<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Right now, I admit, I cannot have access to the kind of life I want<\/p>\n

But God will meet my need: \u201cI shall not want\u201d<\/p>\n

Jesus knows best and I don\u2019t<\/p>\n

No matter how challenging my life is<\/p>\n

I can trust Jesus\u2019 Character and Promises<\/p>\n

For His plan cannot be thwarted by closed doors and crises<\/p>\n
