Participants were invited to submit an original piece of writing that helps readers see the truth or power of one Scripture verse or passage in a fresh way. We received more than 152 submissions from 91 writers in at least 22 countries.<\/p>\n

Zacchaeus<\/strong>

Tears unshed
\nsit silent
\nbehind his eyes,
\nFortress of an anguish long withheld.<\/p>\n

Fears unfaced
\nsit silent
\nin his heart,
\nBitterness of a loneliness self-imposed.<\/p>\n

That pain like no other,
\nrips apart his mind
\nAnd leaves the tattered shreds
\nof a man
\nlong-rejected.<\/p>\n

But Love
\ncomes in.
\nEnters the room uninvited.
\nLightly kisses, the drooping head raises.<\/p>\n

Holds his gaze
\nthrough a doorway,
\nup that hill
\nand dies.<\/p>\n
