Cameroon Christian Writers Workshop<\/strong><\/h3>

Apr 2026: <\/strong>Over the Easter weekend on April 3-4, Christian writers in Cameroon gathered for a writing workshop with publishing manager Vincent de Paul Lele and author Rahael Ngoh Manang, thanks to a partnership between MAI-Africa, ACTS Cameroon and \u00c9ditions Cle.<\/p>

\u201cAll the lessons were an eye opener,\u201d says one participant. \u201cThis workshop will give you the necessary tools needed to kickstart your journey\u2026Knowledge, guidance and motivation on how to move forward.\u201d<\/p>

Local host Dr. Helga Jam is keen to see more workshops throughout Cameroon to nurture local talent, including training of trainers to equip generations of future Christian writers.<\/p>

Rwanda Christian Writers Workshop<\/strong><\/h3>

Mar 2026:<\/strong> MAI-Africa held its first in-person workshop for the year in Rwanda on March 27-29, hosted by Dominique Ntirushwa and Scripture Union Rwanda. Over the three days, twenty-seven participants learned how to write and get published with Jane Gichohi, Ezechias Ntirenganya and Ramon Rocha.<\/p>

\u201cThis training made writing very doable\u2014simple steps in developing ideas into articles and books,\u201d says participant Eustace Makokha. \u201cThis will inspire aspiring writers and definitely add value to those already writing and publishing.\u201d<\/p>

By the end of the workshop, the group had compiled their work into a booklet, Our Hope in Jesus Christ: A Collection of Articles by Rwandan Christian Writers<\/em>. They also formed the Rwanda Christian Writers Network, with Japhet Byiringiro serving as its first Chair.<\/p>

Online Training on Writing Fiction for Teens (French) <\/strong><\/h3>

Dec 2025:<\/strong> Keila Ochoa Harris ran online training on December 9 and 13. A joint collaboration between MAI-Am\u00e9rica Latina and D\u00e9fi des Jeunes (\u201cYouth Challenge\u201d)\u00a0<\/em><\/a>magazine by publisher Marie-France Pierre-Pierre, 15 participants from across Haiti learned the foundations and art of writing Christian fiction for teens. Each session ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was translated into French.<\/p>

Online Training on Writing and Illustrating Biblical Fiction for Children (Spanish)<\/strong><\/h3>

Sept-Dec 2025:<\/strong> We are amazed by our team in Latin America<\/a>. What a marathon the last few months have been! From September to November, Keila Ochoa Harris and Patricia Cabral ran 6 online sessions with 22 participants on how to write biblical fiction, guiding participants in writing and editing a complete biblical short story in Spanish. This was followed by 4 sessions with Jos\u00e9 Carlos Guti\u00e9rrez Mart\u00ednez and Iv\u00e1n Anaya on illustrating children\u2019s stories that point kids to Christ.<\/p>

West Africa Short Story Writing Workshop in Burkina Faso <\/strong><\/h3>

Nov 2025:<\/strong> The last of MAI-Africa\u2019s West Africa Short Story Writing Workshops for the year was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on November 13-15. MAI-Africa trustee Joanna Ilboudo says she was especially encouraged by participants coming from different church denominations throughout the country\u2014some travelled up to hundreds of miles!<\/p>

Online Training for Ukrainian Christian Writers <\/strong><\/h3>

Nov 2025:<\/strong> MAI-Europe\u2019s first online training course for non-fiction Ukrainian writers<\/a>, Writing for Hope<\/em>, ran on three Monday evenings from November 3-17. The course was led by former MAI-Europe trustee Martin Manser. Drawing on his 45 years of experience editing over 200 books, Martin covered The Writing Process, Focused Editing and Collaborative Writing.<\/p>

Two Ukrainian authors spearheaded the initiative. \u201cThey had a vision for training new, younger writers to write in Ukrainian for their own people, with the specific idea of collaborating on books with stories of hope, to point people to God at this very difficult time,\u201d MAI-Europe Board Chair Janet says.<\/p>

Twenty writers honed their craft alongside others with a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus through the written word. Many were younger writers collaborating on a book, God and Mental Health<\/em>. Two participants were inspired by the training to begin organizing a regular support group for Ukrainian writers.\u00a0<\/p>

Pray for Ukrainian Christian writers to gain skills and confidence in writing and publishing, and to contribute to building a community of Ukrainian Christian writers. <\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Publishers Training in Madagascar<\/strong><\/h3>

Oct 2025:<\/strong> Our Director of Publisher Development Ramon Rocha ran a one-day training workshop on October 23 on Advancing the Gospel in Madagascar\u00a0Through Publishing with a team of ten staff from 3M<\/a>, a ministry based in Antananarivo.<\/p>

3M Publishing\u2019s Executive Director Avotriniana Ravelo and his team learned the strategic role Christian publishing plays in helping grow the Madagascar Church, and the four legs of effective publishing: editorial and production, marketing, distribution and finance.<\/p>

\u201cIt was encouraging to see Avotriniana and his team\u2019s\u00a0commitment to pursue their calling in the publishing ministry, their eagerness to learn best practices and their willingness to be challenged to evaluate the status quo and consider changes for improvement,\u201d Ramon said.<\/p>

Two days later on October 25, a workshop for writers was held at\u00a03M Preaching Institute Chapel on The Whys and Hows of Effective Writing, featuring local trainers. \u00a0<\/p>

West Africa Short Story Writing Workshop in Nigeria<\/strong><\/h3>

Oct 2025:<\/strong> MAI-Africa\u2019s second West Africa Short Story Writing Workshop was held in Nigeria on October 21-23 in partnership with African Christian Textbooks (ACTS), Journalists for Christ International Outreach and Step Publishers in Ghana.<\/p>

Twenty-one participants\u2014including pastors from theological colleges, missionaries, journalists and communications students\u2014took part in the three-day workshop with Emike Oyemade, CEO of Jotham Publishing and Wisewalk Foundation, evangelist Pusonnam Yiri and MAI-Africa trustee Lekan Otufodunrin.<\/p>

\u201cThe workshop was a major eye-opener for me as a Christian writer,\u201d one participant shared. \u201cI learned the importance of storytelling as a tool for ministry and how fiction can be used to reflect faith, hope and transformation in relatable ways.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI was very encouraged by the willingness of the participants to immediately apply the lessons they learnt in reviewing their story ideas,\u201d Lekan says. \u201cTo God be the glory!\u201d<\/p>

First Writers’ Training in Greece<\/strong><\/h3>

Oct 2025: <\/strong>Our first formal MAI-Europe writers\u2019 training in Greece was held in Athens just last weekend, October 17-19. The\u00a0Joshua Project\u00a0<\/a>estimates that in Greece, only 0.5% of its 10 million people are evangelical Christians.<\/p>

The training was held in English, with Greek translation. MAI-Europe trustees Janet Wilson and Anna Shirochenskaya, along with award-winning fiction author Bal\u00e1zs Z\u00e1goni, facilitated workshops on article and book writing, children\u2019s writing, translation and editing during the full day of training on October 18.<\/p>

Friday was dedicated to a mini training for ten representatives from local publishing houses covering marketing, finance, and distribution, facilitated by by Anna Shirochenskaya and MAI Director of Publisher Development Ramon Rocha.\u00a0<\/p>

West Africa Short Story Writing Workshop in Ghana<\/strong><\/h3>

Sept 2025: <\/strong>MAI-Africa trustee Lawrence Darmani, alongside Joel Borboryoe, facilitated a 3 day short story writing workshop in Ghana on September 22-24. Twenty-four participants learned new skills and had opportunities to share ideas in the morning, while the afternoon was given to writing.<\/p>

\u201cThe interactions gave me new insight and ideas about writing, editing and publishing,\u201d said one participant. Several expressed hope for more training. \u201cI hope there will be other workshops, to give us opportunities to write stories like the ones this workshop has birthed,\u201d one said.<\/p>

\u201cWe thank the Lord for a successful workshop,\u201d Lawrence said. \u201cOur workshop closed with participants full of praise to the Lord and appreciation for the opportunity\u2014and asking for more!\u201d<\/p>

Great Commission Writing Workshop in South Asia<\/strong><\/h3>

Aug 2025: <\/strong>MAI-Asia\u00a0partnered with two Christian organizations to run a writing workshop in\u00a0south Asia\u00a0for 24 participants with author and entrepreneur Ardy Roberto. From August 15-17, Ardy shared the importance of \u201cGreat Commission Writing\u201d to share the good news, equip and encourage. A printed 144-page anthology\u00a0was written, edited and published by the end of the third day!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cBeing here has given me a very clear understanding of why I need to write. Through writing, I can surely embrace the opportunity to glorify God,\u201d said one participant. Participants reported intentions to form a writing group, and to write every day.<\/p>

Writing and Editing workshop in Singapore<\/strong><\/h3>

Aug 2025:<\/strong> MAI-Asia partnered with Our Daily Bread (ODB) Ministries Singapore for an interactive workshop with poet, song lyricist and editor Aaron Lee on August 6. Aaron highlighted the special role of editors in relation to writers, introduced the idea of an editor as a music conductor, and unpacked the concept of word-smithing. \u201cI gained theoretical and practical knowledge, such as effective exercises that focus on the sound and rhythm of the sentences,\u201d one participant said.<\/p>

\u201cI have been a beneficiary of ODB\u2019s special ministry of the written word since I was a teen, so I was thrilled to meet over twenty of ODB\u2019s writers, editors, translators and content producers,\u201d Aaron says. \u201cEveryone brought their own experiences to sharpen one another.\u201d<\/p>

Online Kids Book Club in Latin America<\/strong><\/h3>

May-Jun 2025<\/strong>: \u201cIt’s encouraging to read stories written by adult participants in workshops\u2014but it\u2019s even more exciting to see little ones writing!\u201d says MAI-Am\u00e9rica Latina Board member Keila Ochoa Harris, on an online kids book club she ran from May 19-June 20. Thirty-eight people from Mexico and Argentina signed up. Each week during the six-week book club, children would read three stories and participate in a creative challenge\u2014with some writing their own stories.<\/p>

\u201cThe children who read were excited to see their work heard, and the ones who listened to the stories were very supportive and kind,\u201d Keila says. \u201cKids loved the book club, and they are asking for more books and clubs. We need more publishing houses committed to publishing for children. I think the writers are there, just waiting for an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>

Partnering on a Writing Workshop in Italy<\/strong><\/h3>

Apr 2025<\/strong>: MAI-Europe partnered with La Casa della Bibbia to organize a workshop for 24 Christian authors and digital creators on April 12 in Turin, Italy. MAI-Europe Chair Janet Wilson shared words of encouragement. La Casa della Bibbia director Giancarlo Farina and digital strategist Ruben Bianco facilitated the hands-on training in Italian, covering topics on creative writing and writing for online audiences. <\/span><\/p>

Fiction Writing Workshop in South Africa<\/strong><\/h3>

Feb 2025<\/strong>: MAI-Africa communications coordinator Joan Campbell facilitated a Christian fiction writing workshop in Johannesburg in partnership with Kate Walsh, who runs an online ministry that creates spaces for women to explore and grow their creativity. They taught about creating characters readers care about, building a plot outline and bringing setting to life. <\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe workshop imparted not only skills, but encouragement and confidence too,\u201d Joan said. \u201cOne attendee said the workshop sparked her creativity again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

A Prayer Book for the Central African Republic<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>

Jan 2025<\/strong>:<\/span> MAI-Africa trustee Kirimi Barine ran a workshop for over 50 Christian writers in Bangui, Central African Republic. By the end of their time together, most of the book\u2019s prayers had been written. \u201cSeeing Christian writers passionately come together to intercede for their nation through the written word was inspiring,\u201d Kirimi said. \u201cTheir commitment to crafting prayers on 14 critical themes gives hope that this book will stir the church to pray fervently for the Central African Republic and inspire even more writing for God\u2019s kingdom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
