Write for the Web

How can writers maximize opportunities for writing online that complement traditional publishing models? You’ll learn from a veteran journalist about the difference between writing for web and print, niche writing, covering trending topics, and options for reaching a global audience. You’ll also hear from an avid blogger about how to start and sustain blogging, and valuable lessons he’s learned along the way.

Lekan Otufondurin is a passionate journalist and media career development specialist. He is the former managing editor of online and special publications with The Nation, Nigeria’s leading national daily newspaper. He serves as a trustee of MAI-Africa, secretary of the Africa Region of the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) and fellow of the Bloomberg African Leadership Initiative Media Fellowship.

Jeins Duran is an avid blogger and trained screenwriter and theater director. He has dedicated more than 15 years of his life to the art of telling stories in literary, artistic and audiovisual formats. His plays include: The Guardian of the Forest (2012), Nativus (2017) and What Neighbors (2018). Jeins’ historical novel, CELDA 212, was published last year and translated into English under the tutelage of Troy Buder, executive producer of Disney’s The Queen of Katwe. He resides in Medellín, Colombia, with his wife and three children.
