Take Heart and Reach the Nations

“If Jesus were to write a letter to the church in your country, what would He say?” Umubyeyi Vestine of Kenya responded to this prompt in the LittWorld writing contest.

My Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters,

May peace be with all of you!

I am calling you brothers and sisters because in accepting me, you have the right to be children of My Father. You may be surprised to receive a letter from my hand without going through an apostle or someone else! It’s just because I want you to be warned. I noticed that some of you begin to withdraw from my goodness, claiming that it is taking too long for me to return to you.

Last time when I was with you, I promised that I would go to prepare a place so that where I am, there you will be also! Yes, it is true that your seats are already prepared, but you seem to forget what I told you, the Apostle Mark has written, “And the gospel must first be preached to all nations” (Mark 13:10). This is why I insist that you write everything you know, publish and translate books, spread your testimony concerning me, imitate your predecessors, try to reach the ends of the world, and when your work is finished, I will return as promised! Understand that my return depends on your work. You will pass through difficulties, but do not forget that the Holy Spirit is here to help.

Rest in this: I love you more than you can imagine.

My peace be with all of you!

Your Savior Jesus Christ
