TRAVEL FAQS FOR LITTWORLD 2022

Maybe it’s been awhile since you’ve traveled because of the pandemic, and you have questions.  We understand.  This information may increase your assurance as you plan your travel to Hungary for LittWorld 2022.

When should I arrive and depart?

You should arrive in time for the evening meal on Sunday, April 24 (the first meal included in your paid registration fee). We conclude with breakfast on Friday, April 29. Here is the conference schedule.

Where will the conference be held?

LittWorld will be held at Hotel Azur in the city of Siófok on the shores of scenic Lake Balaton, roughly 60 miles from Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

How will I get to the hotel?

Free bus transportation between the airport and Hotel Azur will be provided at scheduled times for arriving and departing participants, so you will need to provide us with your flight details to make sure a bus is available for you. Those wanting transportation on a day or time when the buses are not running will need to arrange transport at their own expense.

Planning to drive to Hotel Azur? The hotel has ample free parking.

What if I need extra nights lodging? A limited number of guest rooms may be available at the Hotel Azur on the night before LittWorld (April 23) at the conference discounted rate. Contact us if you are interested. Otherwise, the ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel offers reasonable rates and is just a three-minute walk from Terminal 2. Also, hotels of every price and category are available in beautiful Budapest about 30 minutes from the airport.

How about Covid-19?

Hungary presently does not requires a COVID test from travelers.

You will likely need a negative Covid test before boarding a plane to return home. For that, Covid testing is conveniently available at Budapest International Airport, where Universal Medical Hub provides facilities for certified PCR, rapid antigen and rapid IgG antibody testing. You would register online before taking the test when you arrive at the airport. Costs of the PCR and rapid antigen tests are approximately $63 USD and $35 USD, respectively.  Results of the rapid antigen test are provided within 15 to 20 minutes; PCR test results are sent by email within 24 hours.

Covid testing will also be available at Sió Medical Center near the conference hotel in Siófok, with cost of tests roughly the same as at the airport.

Will I need a visa for Hungary?

For information on who will need visas for travel to Poland, please visit the consular services page on Hungary’s website. There, for instance, you will see a list of countries that do NOT need a visa.  If you need a visa, MAI will provide you with a visa invitation letter.  For that, we will need your full name as it appears in your passport, your passport number and expiration date, your date of birth, and your home address.  Make sure that your current passport does not expire until at least six months after the conference.

What is air travel like during a pandemic?

Nearly all airlines require that you wear a mask in flight (except during “active eating”), and you’ll need to produce a negative Covid test before entering Hungary by air and most likely before returning to your home country.

On the positive side, you may discover some very good airfares right now. Check around for best deals. But you may want to book directly with the airline rather than a third party (Expedia, Kayak, etc.), since the latter can make it more complicated to make a change or get a cancellation refund.

Should I purchase travel insurance?

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for your trip. If you would happen to get sick in Hungary or need to quarantine, you would be responsible to cover expenses incurred (lodging, meals, etc.) beyond the time of LittWorld.

By when should I register for the conference? Save money by registering for the conference by the February 15 “Early Bird” deadline.  The sooner you register, the more it will help us plan in terms of numbers to expect at the conference. Please also be sure to review our cancellation policy.

Is it worth it for me to travel to Hungary for LittWorld?

Where else can you learn from, and build relationships with, Christian publishing staff and writers from around the world—growing professionally and spiritually in one of the most scenic spots in Europe? We will do everything possible to make your stay at LittWorld a healthy, fruitful and memorable one. But in the end, we know and respect that travel to Hungary is your decision, and it must be one with which you feel comfortable.

“Even with the omicron variant, air travel is seeing an uptick every day, with travel numbers getting close to what they were before the pandemic,” travel writer Stephanie Zito says. “Just do your research and make sure you’re protected.”
