Your savings. Your impact.
Many generous ministry partners like you have seen the benefits of contributing from a traditional IRA by utilizing a tool called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to accelerate the Great Commission.
A QCD always delivers tax benefits, while “regular” donations might not, depending on your tax situation. A QCD is a direct transfer from your traditional IRA to a qualified charity, like Media Associates International (MAI).
Using your retirement account to advance the gospel
If you’re required to take income from your retirement account, please consider directing some of that to advance the gospel through MAI.
Ask your professional advisor for how much of your QCD will qualify for RMD in your situation. Contributions to IRAs after age 70 ½ may affect how much of your QCD can be counted toward RMD.
A QCD goes directly from your IRA to MAI ministry
- You don’t pay taxes on the distribution
- You can give your RMD — up to $105,000*
- Your tax bracket and Medicare premiums may be lower
- You are investing in a lasting, eternal impact through global Christian writing and publishing
When can I start?
Beginning at age 70 ½, you may transfer up to $105,000* annually from your IRA for charitable purposes without adding one penny to your taxable income. At age 73, the IRS requires you to distribute a certain amount, called the required minimum distribution (RMD), from your IRA whether you need the funds or not.
For many IRA account holders, the taxes on this distribution can be a significant burden. But with a QCD, the amount you give may count toward your RMD.
How to Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
- Contact your IRA custodian: Ask your financial advisor or financial institution (custodian) holding your IRA to initiate a QCD to MAI.
- Contact us: Email [email protected] to let us know the designation of your gift (e.g. LittWorld Scholarships).
- Pray for gospel impact: Enjoy the potential tax benefits of a QCD and join us in prayer.
