John Wessels
Organization | Methodist Church of Southern Africa
John Wessels BA, BTh Honours (Rhodes) is a Minister in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (which includes South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana). John is passionate about how Jesus is hope for the world now. Early in his ministry he became frustrated with the scarcity of resources that helped congregations present Jesus and his kingdom as real and life giving in society. John is also passionate about Jesus’ call to ‘make disciples’. For these reasons John has consistently developed and taught the contents of this book in courses since the year 2000. Over the years since then he has often re-written, enlarged and refined the book. His aim was to create a book that is comprehensive, thorough and practically helpful. Now, nineteen years after the start of this project, he has decided it is ready for publication and is able to be used in a much wider context. It is John’s prayer that this could be the tool the church needs to draw people into a deeper relationship with Jesus so that they can follow him more closely. This guidebook can be used by individuals journeying alone, small groups or in a congregational teaching course. The book is ideal for church leaders, small group leaders and any Christian who desires to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from his vision for the world
