Publishing for the Digital Generation

Technology has revolutionized the world of publishing, and there is no turning back. How do publishers better address the reality of doing business in today’s digital world? Should you revisit and revise your business model to not only cope with the times but to grow and be financially sustainable?

Andi Tarigan is the Chief Editor and General Manager of Gramedia Pustaka Utama, the largest general publishing house in Indonesia. He started his work at Gramedia Pustaka Utama as Editor (2010), then Chief Editor for Humanities (2014-2016), then Head of the Nonfiction Department (2016-2021). He completed his undergraduate education and majored in philosophy at the Driyarkara School of Philosophy, Jakarta, then in management at Binus University.

Bernice Lee has been involved in publishing since 1981, when she joined Oxford University Press, Singapore. The years 1991–2005 were spent managing the publishing program for Armour Publishing, a local publishing company which she co-founded with Christina Lim. Since 2006, together with her husband Soo-Inn Tan, she has been at the helm of Graceworks, a publishing and training consultancy based in Singapore. Under the auspices of MAI-Asia, which she chairs, Bernice has conducted writing and editorial training in Indonesia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Vietnam.
